Serena Williams: ‘Rules for Veterans helped Federer, why can’t we have it?’

Serena Williams, who will turn 35 on August, believes WTA Rules for the partecipation at Mandatory level of the veteran players are too strict. As a matter of fact, if players skip Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid or Beijing, they will get a penalty, fine or a ‘0’ in the Best 18 results. On the WTA Tour only top 10 players who are above 30 can withdraw from certain tournaments. But if they do it, they can’t participate in the tour’s year-end bonus pool. In the men’s tennis, it’s not like this.
