McCann, Beltran in running for AL All-Star squad

TORONTO — Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran have been receiving strong consideration to represent the Yankees at this summer’s All-Star Game at Petco Park, with both players appearing on the first balloting update released on Tuesday by Major League Baseball.
McCann has tallied 319,679 votes, placing him second among American League catchers to Salvador Perez of the Royals, whose 1,094,942 votes pace all players in the league. Beltran has received 210,885 votes, which places him 11th among AL outfielders.

A seven-time All-Star in the National League during his time with the Braves, McCann is hoping for his first selection to the AL squad. The 32-year-old entered play on Tuesday batting .231 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 42 games.
