Ackley to have shoulder surgery; season over

TORONTO — Dustin Ackley, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Monday after being diagnosed with a torn labrum in his right shoulder, will undergo surgery and miss the remainder of the season, Yankees manager Joe Girardi announced before Tuesday night’s game against the Blue Jays.
Ackley, 28, injured the shoulder diving back into first base in the sixth inning of the Yankees’ 2-1 victory over the Rays on Sunday at Tropicana Field. An MRI performed in Tampa, Fla., revealed the tear.
In a corresponding roster move made on Monday, the Yankees recalled infielder Rob Refsnyder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. With Mark Teixeira returning to the lineup on Monday following a bout with neck spasms, Girardi said he feels comfortable with catcher Austin …
