Trout leads AL outfielders in All-Star votes

ANAHEIM — Angels center fielder Mike Trout ranked third among vote-getters in the first American League All-Star ballot update, which was released on Tuesday.
Trout, who has 934,137 votes, ranked behind only Royals catcher Salvador Perez (1,094,942) and Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz (963,076) in voting.
Trout is the only Angels player listed among the top vote-getters by position. Trout, a four-time AL All-Star and two-time All-Star Game MVP, entered Tuesday hitting .312/.411/.556 with 11 homers and 37 RBIs in 51 games this season. The 2014 AL MVP is tops among AL outfielders in votes and is followed by Kansas City’s Lorenzo Cain and Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo.
The next AL voting update will be announced on June 7.
