ROLAND GARROS Day Five Men’s Singles: Nadal Marks 200th Grand Slam Win Milestone, Djokovic sees off Darcis!

It was business as usual on day five of the 2016 French Open even as surprises kept being peppered at regular intervals.
Novak Djokovic fought off a tenacious Steve Darcis to keep himself in contention of winning his first French Open title. The world no. 1 broke the Belgian early in the first set, but was broken again by Darcis, who kept up the momentum until the 12th game, when he was broken for the second time in the set. Much as the second set was dominated by Djokovic, in the third set Darcis again broke back the Serbian to keep him on his toes. Djokovic had a match point on Darcis’ serve in the ninth game of the set, but wasn’t able to convert it. There wasn’t however any letting up from Djokovic in own service game as he served out the match comfortably. Rafael Nadal had a momentary lapse in the eighth game of the third set while he was trying to serve for the match. He was broken by his opponent, for the second time in the match, to get the score to 5-3. However, Bagnis was unable to consolidate his serve in the next game that allowed the nine-time former champion to reach to the third round.
