Rockies activate Motte, place Logan on DL

BOSTON — Prior to Wednesday’s game against the Red Sox, the Rockies placed left-hander Boone Logan on the disabled list with inflammation in his left shoulder, retroactive to May 18. In his place, right-hander Jason Motte was reinstated into the bullpen.
Logan was warming up in the bullpen during the team’s 8-3 loss to the Red Sox at Fenway Park on Tuesday, but he did not enter the game. The last time he pitched was May 17 in St. Louis. He has a 1.93 ERA in 14 innings pitched this season.
“[Logan’s] felt a little something there the last few days, last night it kind of came to a head. Since he hasn’t pitched in a week already, we’ll just backdate the DL and hopefully he can be back to us in another week or so,” Colorado manager Walt Weiss said.
Motte has yet to make a regular-season appearance with the Rockies since being signed as a free agent in December. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list for a right shoulder strain in early April and has been going through rehab sessions since.
