Mazara powers Perez’s win over Angels

ARLINGTON — Martin Perez threw six scoreless innings and Nomar Mazara belted a two-run home run as the Rangers beat the Angels, 4-1, Tuesday night at Globe Life Park, evening the three-game series.
Perez recorded his first win in May, despite a 2.59 ERA in his previous four starts of the month. He entered the game receiving an average of 2.10 runs per start, the lowest in the American League. The left-hander struck out six, walked two and allowed five hits in six innings of work.
Right-hander Jhoulys Chacin, making his third start for the Angels since being acquired from the Braves on May 11, worked six innings and allowed three runs on five hits, while striking out four. Johnny Giavotella’s career-high 12-game hitting streak ended, as he struck out twice in an 0-for-4 effort.
