Mets lose Duda to lower-back stress fracture

WASHINGTON — The Mets placed first baseman Lucas Duda on the disabled list Monday with a stress fracture in his lower back, purchasing the contract of utilityman Ty Kelly from Triple-A Las Vegas and designating left-hander Dario Alvarez for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. There is no timetable for Duda’s return.
Duda has missed the Mets’ past two games with back woes, receiving a battery of tests at Manhattan’s Hospital for Special Surgery. Team orthopedist Dr. David Altchek reviewed Duda’s test results on Monday to confirm the diagnosis.
