Three things we learned Thursday

The Nationals pounded the Mets, Chris Sale was awesome, George Springer did this and the Giants completed a 7-0 road trip behind Jeff Samardzija’s gem.
Three things from Thursday:
1. Bryce Harper feels bad for Matt Harvey. Harper was 0-for-20 in his career against Harvey enter Thursday’s game. Harper broke that hitless streak with a hard line single to right, and Harvey — with a couple of defensive miscues behind him — gave up nine runs in 2 2/3 innings, the shortest outing of his career. Harvey’s ERA rose to 5.77 and manager Terry Collins said after the game that he’ll consider not using Harvey next week when the teams meet up again. But here’s the kicker. Harper said, “I feel bad for him. He comes off the mound and gets booed, and he’s one of the best in baseball. Working out with him in the offseason, being around him and stuff, he works his tail off.”
This is supposed to be a rivalry! Not only are these two apparently working out together in the offseason, Harper feels bad for him? No! Come on, Bryce, you should be reveling in Harvey’s struggles. Rub it in. Talk about how much more you can bench press than him, that’s he not the same pitcher, that the crowd must be in his head, that he’s no Thor. Anything to throw him off. Not “I feel bad for him.”
