2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship: Mustangs eases past Savage Storm to reach the last 8

The battle between two best teams of the regional rankings in the first round of 2016 NCAA Division II Men’s Championship has been won by Midwestern State Mustangs, who defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm 5-2 to reach the last 8. Thus, the Mustangs will play in the quarter-final for the 4th time in school’s history (2006, 2013, and 2014) where they will meet Ferris State. Southern Oklahoma State has ended their season here, with a very solid 16-3 score and Great American Conference Tournament Championship title, also playing in the NCAA for the first time. The Mustangs were off to a perfect start in the doubles (this was their 10th sweeping of doubles matches this season), building a 3-0 lead and after early troubles in the singles, they’ve managed to bring the tie home.
