Mets’ David Wright: ‘I expect to play much better than I am right now’

NEW YORK — New York Mets captain David Wright labeled his recent production unacceptable late Wednesday.
A day after his back acted up and he was scratched from the lineup, Wright went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in his return as the Mets lost to the Washington Nationals 7-1 at Citi Field.
That dropped Wright’s season average to .221 — the lowest in his career at this point in a season. He has 47 strikeouts in 113 at-bats.
