PHOENIX — It has been pretty much accepted all week that Thursday, the day Alex Rodriguez is eligible to come off the disabled list, is the day he will return to the New York Yankees lineup.
But A-Rod sounded less than positive that he will be fit to play in the opener of the Yankees’ four-game series against the Athletics in Oakland. In fact, he made his physical condition sound mysterious and dramatic.
“I’m not predicting when I’m going to play. I’m not in the predicting business,” Rodriguez said before Tuesday night’s game between the Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks. “The next 48 hours will be big.”
