Red Sox lefty Rodriguez to skip next rehab start

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez will miss at least one rehab start at Triple-A Pawtucket because of soreness in his right knee.
Manager John Farrell said the Boston Red Sox ”fully expect” the hard-throwing Rodriguez to be pitching in the majors again this year. After a solid rookie campaign last year, Rodriguez suffered a knee injury in spring training and has yet to see action this season.
“We’re holding him out of his next start,” Farrell said prior to Tuesday’s game against the Royals. “On occasion, he’s felt some soreness in the right knee.”
In four starts for the PawSox, Rodriguez compiled a 4.29 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 21 innings.
“He was obviously going through his starts. But there’s a reason why, and I think this now becomes the reason why, there was maybe some restriction on his part to get that final 5 percent effort,” Farrell said.
