Cardinals had better hope this is as bad as their defense can get

LOS ANGELES — The St. Louis Cardinals have played some wonderful games at Dodger Stadium over the years, including some stirring road victories in playoff series. “Wonderful” is not the right word for how they played here Friday night.
The Cardinals supported poor pitching with awful defense in an 8-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. When Michael Wacha wasn’t allowing line drives and deep fly balls, he often was allowing hard-hit ground balls, and three of those caromed off the glove or body of shortstop Aledmys Diaz, sometimes both. Matt Carpenter made a wide throw to second base that proved costly as well.
