Bad luck playing role in Puig’s slump

LOS ANGELES — Basic stat lines might not show it, but Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig has been hitting the ball as hard as anyone in the league in the last three games.
That’s a small consolation for a player expected to deliver middle-of-the-order production, but it signals an improvement that could mark better days to come than Puig’s current .230/.276/.365 slash line.
“For Turner [Ward, hitting coach] and myself, we continue to encourage the process,” manager Dave Roberts said of Puig. “He can be zero for his last eight but square up four baseballs and people are going to say he’s still struggling, that he hasn’t made any adjustments. In the clubhouse, we’re telling them to continue to square up the baseball.”
