News of the rest of the action from York on the second day of the Dante Festival.

Easton Angel bounced back to winning ways with a dominant display in the British Stallion Studs EBF Westow Stakes at York.

After winning her first two starts last year she bumped into the giant Acapulco in the Queen Mary and went down fighting.

Slightly disappointing afterwards, she was still sent off the 100/30 favourite to make a winning reappearance for Michael Dods and Paul Mulrennan and was always holding Gracious John in the final furlong, despite drifting across the track.

She had three-quarters of a length in hand at the line. The race was marred by the fatal fall of Areen, who gave Danny Tudhope a nasty spill.

The winner was introduced into the Commonwealth Cup betting at Royal Ascot at 25/1 by Ladbrokes and was cut to the same price from 33s for the King’s Stand.

Part-owner Ritchie Fiddes said: “That’s a relief, we thought the race was just a couple of weeks too soon, she’d been slow to come in her coat.

“While she might not have grown that much physically, she did put on plenty of muscle over the winter.
