Stevens Institute of Technology wins Empire 8 Conference Championship for the 7th straight time

Edgewater was the host place of the Empire 8 Conference Championship, where the top-seeded teams fought for the title in the final match. Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks defeated Ithaca College Bombers 5-1, for their 7th consecutive conference title, which propelled them to 9th NCAA Division III championship. Stevens will travel to the Division tournament for the 9th time in the last 10 seasons. After his prominent performance in both singles and doubles matches, senior Ben Foran is the MVP of the championship. In addition, this was the milestone 50th conference victory for the Ducks in a row, starting after losing to Ithaca in April 2010.
On the main court, Matthew Heinrich/Ben Foran had a perfect start for the Stevens, beating Chris Hayes/Wes Davis 8-3, improving their score to 17-2 this season. Kyle Henry/Kyle Cenderelli followed them …
