Quinn: This is something big

Niall Quinn and Jamie Carragher have backed Sunderland to establish themselves as a top-10 club after securing Premier League safety under Sam Allardyce.
Wednesday night’s 3-0 victory over Everton ensured Sunderland will play Premier League football and enjoy the riches of the bumper new TV deal next year, despite a season of struggle.
Former chariman and striker Quinn insists the manager deserves enormous credit for the work he has done and encouraged the club to give him a long-term contract.
“Sunderland have developed something under Sam Allardyce, which is huge,” Quinn told Sky Sports.
“They’ve been used to escaping but there’s something different about tonight. You feel there’s something really strong to build on.
“He has something really big going on now and I think it could last for years.
