Angels trade for INF Ryan after Simmons’ injury

The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Brendan Ryan in a trade with the Washington Nationals on Tuesday to help fill the void left by the injury to Andrelton Simmons, who is expected to miss up to two months with a thumb injury.
The Angels acquired Ryan, who was playing at Triple-A Syracuse, for cash considerations. The Southern California native was added to the Angels’ 25-man roster.
Simmons will require surgery to repair a full thickness tear of the ulnar collateral ligament of his left thumb, the team announced Monday. Angels general manager Billy Eppler said on Monday that Simmons is expected to miss six to eight …
