Tennis- World No.1 Serena Williamd and eighth seed Carla Suarez Navarro got through to the third round with straight sets wins whereas ninth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and 11th seed Timea Bacsinszky booked their places in the second round of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome.
Williams faced 22-year-old German Anna-Lena Friedsam in the second round, who she had beaten in 3 sets when they met on clay courts of Roland Garros last year. This time Williams eased past her opponent in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
