Simmons headed to DL, needs thumb surgery

ANAHEIM — An MRI revealed that Andrelton Simmons has a “full thickness tear of the ulnar collateral ligament of his left thumb,” prompting the need for surgery, the Angels announced on Monday. A timetable was not immediately available.
