Trophee Hassan II 2016: Leaderboard Scores, Prize-Money Payouts

Jeunghun Wang prevailed in a play-off against Spain’s Nacho Elvira to secure the 2016 Trophee Hassan II after the pair had both finished at five under after 72 holes on Sunday.  

The Korean’s putting was quite brilliant, and he holed a 15-footer for birdie on the second of the sudden death play-off holes to claim a maiden European Tour triumph.

Elvira had looked in pole position for victory after getting on the 18th green in two on the first of the play-off holes, but Wang produced a wonderful up-and-down to force a second. 

The pair both birdied the 18th in their final rounds to move into the lead at five under par, a score that proved too good for the rest of the field, including Day 4 pace-setters Robert Rock and Clement Berardo.

Sunday Recap 

Elvira’s wonderful approach in the first of the play-off holes forced Wang to also go for the green in two, and he ended up in trouble in the trees.

He managed to scramble to the edge of the green and then holed a gigantic putt for birdie to force Elvira to get up and down just to force a second play-off hole, when previously it looked as though he would only need a minimum of two putts to win the championship, per the European Tour:
