CLEVELAND — Victor Martinez capped a historic April with a flourish. For that, he earned American League Player of the Week honors.
It’s the first Player of the Week nod for Martinez since May 15, 2011, his first season in Detroit, and his fifth such award overall.

Martinez batted .519 (14-for-27) for the week with three home runs, five doubles, eight RBIs and eight runs scored.
