Roger Federer Pulls-out of Madrid!

World no. 3 Roger Federer has withdrawn from the Madrid Open with a back injury. Earlier, he’d cancelled his practice sessions on Sunday and today. He’s however confirmed that he would be playing in Rome next week. Marcel Granollers has replaced Federer in the main draw as the lucky loser.
Federer also said that the back injury wasn’t serious, but something that he’d had in the past. He also added that he was in good health when he arrived in Madrid, but that injured himself during his Saturday’s practice session and wanted to be careful instead of pushing himself.
“I arrived, I was okay.” Federer hurt in practice Saturday. “I don’t want to take more chances…rather play it safe.” Says he’ll play Rome. — Ben Rothenberg …
