Ohio State Buckeyes wins Big Ten Championship for the 11th time after strong finish against Illinois

In a battle of the 1st and 3rd seeds, the unstoppable Ohio State Buckeyes proved their conference domination once again, beating Illinois Fighting Illini 4-1 to lift the Big Ten Championship title for the 11th time. This was the 9th title for the Buckeyes in the last 11 years, avenging the final loss to Illinois 12 months ago. Red hot Buckeyes are on the 14-match winning strike, losing only 3 matches in those ties! Also, they are now on a mighty impressive 30-2 in 2016, losing only one point in 14 conference ties, and 23 overall. The clash at Baseline Tennis Center, Minneapolis, between two teams that are regular participants of the Big Ten final, started in favor of the lower-ranked Fighting Illini squad. Jared Hiltzik/Pengxuan Jiang pull off a great performance against Ralf Steinbach/Martin Joyce on court 2, beating them 6-1 for the perfect start of the final for their school. Still, the Buckeyes had a best possible answer, taking the remaining two matches in quick fashion to grab the always important first point.
