Luke Walton to Lakers: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction

In Golden State, Luke Walton briefly took over a defending NBA champion and led it to unforeseen heights. Things will be a lot harder in his first full-time stint as a head coach, as the Los Angeles Lakers announced they agreed to a multi-year contract with Walton.
“We’re excited to bring Luke back to Los Angeles, where we feel he’s going to start an outstanding coaching career,” said general manager Mitch Kupchak. “He’s one of the brightest young coaching minds in the game and we feel fortunate that he’ll be leading the on-court future of our team.”
The 36-year-old is now currently the Association’s youngest head coach.
Taking over on an interim basis for Warriors coach Steve Kerr last season, Walton led Golden State to an NBA record 24-0 start. The Warriors were 39-4 before Kerr returned to the sideline, eventually setting an all-time mark with a 73-9 record.
