Quiet confidence aids Russell in big moments

CHICAGO — During the Cubs’ weekend series in Cincinnati, Addison Russell was hitting the ball hard, but right at defenders. On Tuesday, the shortstop found a perfect spot.
Russell smacked a tiebreaking, two-run triple with two outs in the sixth to lift the Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the Brewers. He now has 10 RBIs in his last 12 games.
“He’s not shy,” Cubs manager Joe Maddon said of the soft-spoken Russell. “Well, he’s shy, but he’s not shy. He’s not afraid of that moment. He hits that gap in big moments, that right-central gap.
