Forte: ‘I’d be disappointed’ if Fitz isn’t Jets’ QB

For most of the 2016 offseason, the New York Jets have been locked in a stalemate in their discussions with free agent quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, a career journeyman who is coming off the best season of that career, one in which he completed 59.6 percent of his passes for 3,905 yards, 31 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Because the performance was wildly out of line with the rest of his career and Fitzpatrick apparently wants to be paid based on his 2015 play while the Jets want to pay him as though last year was an outlier, the QB remains unsigned.
Several members of the Jets organization, including Brandon Marshall, head coach Todd Bowles, GM Mike Maccagnan, and even owner Woody Johnson, have publicly stated that they want Fitzpatrick to return to the team. Fitzpatrick himself has also stated that his preference is to return.
