Mets’ put D’Arnaud on DL with shoulder strain

NEW YORK — The New York Mets placed catcher Travis d’Arnaud on the disabled list Tuesday with a right rotator cuff strain. The move comes a day after d’Arnaud departed a game against the Cincinnati Reds with shoulder discomfort.
Major league veteran Rene Rivera has been promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas. Kevin Plawecki will serve as the primary catcher during d’Arnaud’s absence.
D’Arnaud felt irritation while trying to throw out one of the Cincinnati Reds’ five base stealers in the Mets’ eventual 5-3 win Monday. He then grimaced during a sixth-inning at-bat and departed two innings later.
