Collins incident under MLB investigation

DETROIT — Major League Baseball has opened an investigation into Tyler Collins’ improper gesture toward fans at Comerica Park during Monday’s 7-3 win over the A’s, putting Collins in line for a potential fine or suspension.
A league spokesperson confirmed to MLB.com that the league is investigating the incident. Considering Tigers manager Brad Ausmus referenced in his postgame remarks that the league could get involved, it’s not a surprise.
“If anything needs to be done, we’ll handle it internally,” Ausmus said Monday night. “And if Major League Baseball has a reaction, then we’ll see what their reaction is.”
There is a precedent for suspension for player behavior toward fans, with or without physical contact.
