Paxton Lynch could trade-up target in NFL Draft

In the weeks leading up to the 2016 NFL Draft, we have seen two massive trades involving teams coming up to No. 1 and No. 2 in order to select their quarterback of the future. The expectation is that the Rams will select Cal’s Jared Goff and the Eagles will then take North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz, but even if it goes the other way, those two players are expected to come off the board with the first two picks.
As CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora wrote after the Rams-Titans trade, and as our Will Brinson wrote after the Eagles-Browns trade, one of the big winners from those deals was Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch.
Lynch is widely considered the next-best quarterback available, and though he was expected to be a late first- or early second-round pick back when the draft process started a couple months ago, he has shot up boards of late because the two passers that could have lasted as long as the middle of the first round are now going 1-2.
