Skins ask Supreme Court to hear trademark case

The controversy surrounding the name of the Washington Redskins could soon be coming to an end, at least from a legal standpoint.
The Redskins have asked the Supreme Court take up the team’s trademark case, according to a court document obtained by NBC-12 in Washington. The Redskins’ case dates back to June 2014 when the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office canceled the team’s trademark for the name “Redskins.”
