There was a lot to cheer about over the weekend at Richmond International Raceway and a few things that didn’t go as planned.
Carl Edwards Good for Edwards for not following any “team orders,” and going for the win on Sunday – even if it meant having contact with Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch. In an age when fans want to see the sport go back to its roots, Sunday’s finish was what stock car racing has always been about – a contact sport when it’s necessary. That was “quintessential” NASCAR.
Kyle Busch He took the turn of events pretty well and on pit road, mustered some answers to reporters’ questions. Busch wasn’t quite as forthcoming when he made it to the media center in terms of adding texture or context to what had just happened. But rather than stomp off, as he has in the past, give Busch some credit for facing the music in adversity.
Kasey Kahne Turned in the kind of performance most expect from the Hendrick Motorsports driver with a top-five run on Sunday. Kahne has a pair of top 10’s so far this year, which may not sound like much. …
