Scouting Borussia Dortmund Transfer Target Ousmane Dembele

With only one important game left in Borussia Dortmund’s season—the DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich on May 21—many have started to focus on the summer transfer window.
The Black and Yellows, it seems, will lose a player or two, with Ilkay Gundogan close to joining Manchester City, per the Sun’s Charlie Wyett, and captain Mats Hummels contemplating his future amid Bayern links, per German tabloid Bild (h/t ESPN FC’s Stephan Uersfeld).
Dortmund will need reinforcements for next season as they return to Europe’s biggest stage, the UEFA Champions League, and hope to fight for trophies in all competitions. One such reinforcement could be Stade Rennes attacker Ousmane Dembele.
Magazine Sport Bild were the first outlet to report the link between 18-year-old Dembele and Dortmund, and those reports have since been confirmed by Matthias Dersch of Dortmund-based paper Ruhr Nachrichten, who claims that club and player have agreed to a deal in principle, with the clubs having to agree on a transfer fee (links in German).
Locking up Dembele would be quite the coup for the Black and Yellows, seeing as he was linked with many European giants. “Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Tottenham are among his suitors in the Premier League,” wrote the Guardian’s Ed Aarons in March, for instance.
