Danks to be skipped in Toronto; Sale goes Tuesday

CHICAGO — There will indeed be a starting pitcher on the mound for the White Sox when they open a three-game series and a seven-game road trip Monday in Toronto. As of Sunday afternoon, the name of that starter had yet to be announced by the team.
“We’ll get to that,” said White Sox manager Robin Ventura. “Right now, I know we have [Chris] Sale going Tuesday.”
If the White Sox were to stay on their current schedule, then Sale would be pitching Monday night and John Danks would be pitching Tuesday. With Sale going Tuesday, Danks will be skipped for at least his turn against the Blue Jays.
Danks, who is 0-3 with a 6.23 ERA in three starts this season, has a career 2-3 record with a 7.27 ERA over seven starts at Rogers Centre. He is 1-2 with a 4.25 ERA in five starts at Camden Yards, where the White Sox travel to face Baltimore for four games after their series against the Blue Jays.
