Collmenter progressing toward early-May return

PHOENIX — D-backs pitcher Josh Collmenter continues to make progress and could rejoin the team sometime during the 10-game road trip that starts in Miami on May 3.
The right-handed pitcher, who began the season on the disabled list because of shoulder tightness, will pitch an inning in an extended spring game Monday, and then two innings Thursday. He’s tentatively scheduled to pitch three innings for Class A Visalia on May 2.
“We will see how he feels and we’ll see how the ball is coming out of his hand,” D-backs manager Chip Hale said. “We’ll see if he is getting outs. Those will all be important things.”
