GM: Lions have no plans to trade QB Stafford

Seven years ago, the Detroit Lions made former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Matthew Stafford the No. 1 pick in the draft. They immediately made him their No. 1 quarterback and he has started every game that he’s been healthy in his career. Stafford is not a great quarterback, but he is not a bad one, either. By multiple measurements, he grades out as slightly above average.
He’s also 28 years old now, about to enter his physical prime. In theory, Stafford’s best years of his career should be the next few. So it should come as no surprise that when he was asked at a press conference about the possibility of trading Stafford, new Lions GM Bob Quinn responded with a swiftness.
“I haven’t thought about that and I have no interest in trading Matthew,” Quinn said, via the Detroit Free Press.
