Ireland – Super League Round 12: No surprise as #1 Templeogue defeats DCU Saints

MichaelBonaparte Super League top team – Templeogue (12-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked DCU Saints (3-9) in Dublin 98-75. Templeogue dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to DCU Saints’ 56. Templeogue forced 19 DCU Saints turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Michael Bonaparte (196-82, college: Coll.of the Ozarks) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Jason Killeen (211-85, college: Augusta) who added 24 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Templeogue’s coach Mark Keenan felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was the former international center Martins Provizors (202-87) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. Undefeated Templeogue have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 12-0 record. DCU Saints lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Eanna. Templeogue are looking forward to face Killester (#5) in Dublin in the next round. DCU Saints will play at home against Moycullen (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game in Tralee was also worth to mention about. 5th ranked UCC Demons (7-5) played at the court of sixth ranked Tralee (8-4). Tralee defeated UCC Demons 81-67. Tralee moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion UCC Demons dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Tralee will play against Belfast Star (#8) on the road in the next round. UCC Demons will play against UCD Marian and hope to get back on the winning track. A very close game took place in Limerick between Belfast Star and UL Eagles. Eighth ranked Belfast Star (5-7) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked UL Eagles (1-11). Belfast Star managed to escape with a 1-point win 65-64 on Saturday evening. The best player for the winners was Dillon Stith who scored 24 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Ryan Wilson who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds. Belfast Star moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Moycullen. UL Eagles lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Belfast Star will meet at home higher ranked Tralee (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UL Eagles will play against KUBS (#11) in Greendale and it may be a tough game between close rivals. In the last two games of round 12 KUBS lost to Moycullen …
