Sources: Padres re-sign Richard to 1-year deal

SAN DIEGO — The Padres rotation received another boost Tuesday, as left-hander Clayton Richard signed a one-year deal, according to sources.
The club has not yet confirmed the signing.
Richard, who joined the Padres last August after spending the first four months in the Cubs’ organization, posted a 2.52 ERA in 11 outings for San Diego. Among starters with as many innings, no one had a higher ground-ball rate than Richard’s 65.1 percent last season.
