Romania – Liga Nationala Round 11: No surprise as #1 UBT Cluj Napoca defeats CS Dinamo Bucuresti

KyndallDykes Liga Nationala is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. Liga Nationala top team – UBT Cluj Napoca (9-1) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed ninth ranked CS Dinamo Bucuresti (2-8) 84-65. The game was mostly controlled by UBT Cluj Napoca. CS Dinamo Bucuresti managed to win third quarter 13-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded CS Dinamo Bucuresti 36-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. UBT Cluj Napoca looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American Kyndall Dykes (192-87, college: New Orleans) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Serbian-Bosnian point guard Filip Adamovic (183-88, agency: 011 Sports) helped adding 18 points and 8 assists. UBT Cluj Napoca’s coach Mihai Silvasan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian forward Danilo Tasic (207-93, agency: 011 Sports) responded with 19 points and 4 steals. UBT Cluj Napoca have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record, which they share with Steaua CSM. CS Dinamo Bucuresti at the other side dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. UBT Cluj Napoca is looking forward to face BC Timisoara (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. CS Dinamo Bucuresti will have a break next round. Important game to mention about took place in Galati. Ninth ranked Phoenix Galati (3-7) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Oradea (6-4) 67-65 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian swingman Milos Bojovic (198-81, agency: 011 Sports) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Milan Milovanovic accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Martin Zeno (196-85, college: Texas Tech) came up with 16 points and 5 assists for Oradea in the defeat. Phoenix Galati moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Craiova. Defending champion Oradea keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Pitesti. Phoenix Galati will play against higher ranked Pitesti (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oradea will have a break next round. 11th ranked Olimpic (1-9) was outscored at home by third ranked CSU Sibiu (7-3) with the biggest margin this round 106-79 on Friday night. The best player for the winners was Kevin Hardy who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Milos Macura produced 20 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Olimpic’s coach Sladjan Ivic gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for CSU Sibiu. They maintain third place with 7-3 record having just two points less than leader UBT Cluj Napoca. Olimpic lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. CSU Sibiu will meet Craiova (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Olimpic will play against the league’s second-placed Steaua CSM in Bucuresti and hope to win that game. In the last two games of round 11 Targu Mures lost to Pitesti on the opponent’s court 71-84. Steaua CSM outscored Craiova in a home game 101-78. Pitesti – Targu Mures 84-71Rather expected game when 7th ranked Targu Mures (4-6) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Pitesti (6-4) 84-71 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Pitesti. Targu Mures managed to win fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pitesti looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Bulgarian Pavel Marinov (199-88, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. American power forward Vincent Hunter (209-84, college: Arkansas) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Five Pitesti players scored in double figures. American guard Drew Barham (198-89, college: Gonzaga) produced 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Latvian forward Ernests Kalve (200-87, agency: HMS) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. …
