Estonia – Thomas van der Mars claims Estonian Alexela KML weekly honour

Thomas vander Mars Dutch Thomas van der Mars (208-C-90) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league’s second-best Rapla and that’s him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.The 26-year old center had a double-double of 17 points and twenty four rebounds, while his team beat Parnu (#7, 3-5) 75-62. Rapla is placed at 2nd position in Estonian Alexela KML. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Rapla will need more victories to improve their 6-2 record. van der Mars turned to be Rapla’s top player in his first season with the team. University of Portland graduate has very impressive stats this year. van der Mars is in league’s top in points (4th best: 18.8ppg) and averages solid 1.3bpg and 63.4% FGP.The second most remarkable performance in last round’s games was 27-year old American power forward Justin Baker (203-F/C-89) of Tarvas. Baker impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Tarvas lost that game 77-105 to league’s leader TU/Rock (#1, 7-0).
