Bipa Basket managed to secure a 6-point victory 88-82 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 19-10 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bipa Basket made 9 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Kenney Funderburk (193-92, college: Columbus St., agency: AproK Sports Group) who scored 30 points. The former international point guard Klym Artamonov (185-93) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Oleksandr Kushnirov (210-92) produced 30 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bipa Basket have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Zaporizhya. Mykolaiv lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with Cherkasy. Bipa Basket is looking forward to face VolinBasket (#9) in Lutsk in the next round where they are favorite. Mykolaiv will play at home against Zaporizhya and it may be a tough game between close rivals. The game with biggest result difference took place in Zaporozhye. Local Zaporizhya (8-5) outscored 10th ranked Kremen (2-10) 95-47. Maks Adam Konate (202-91, agency: Alti Sport) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Pavlo Burenko contributed with 19 points and 11 assists for the winners. Center Oleksandr Tyshchenko (206-89) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds for Kremen. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zaporizhya moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Bipa Basket. Kremen at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Zaporizhya will play against Mykolaiv (#7) in Mykolaiv in the next round. Kremen will play on the road against Budivelnyk in Kyiv and hopes to get back on the winning track. In the last two games of round 14 Cherkasy crushed VolinBasket in a road game 87-61. Dnipro smashed Avantazh-Polit. at home 97-71. VolinBasket – Cherkasy 61-87The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked VolinBasket’s (2-9) home loss to eighth ranked Cherkasy (5-8) 61-87. The game without a history. Cherkasy led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to VolinBasket’s 42. Cherkasy forced 20 VolinBasket turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Naturalized Moldovan Andrii Kalnichenko (201-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Point guard Maksym Miroshnychenko (180-96) contributed with 6 points and 10 assists for the winners. Guard Oleg Rudakov (190-94) replied with 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Artem Chemiakin (208-84) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for VolinBasket.
