Devastating Ending for Edwards

Share: HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Carl Edwards saw his hopes of winning a championship come to a crashing end Sunday night in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Edwards was only a handful of laps away from a potential first career Sprint Cup Series title until a turn of events wiped out those aspirations. A caution flag on lap 252 set up a restart that proved to be the undoing for Edwards. When the field went back to green, Edwards attempted to block fellow Championship 4 contender Joey Logano. The two made contact and Edwards slid and crashed hard into the inside wall heading into the first turn before bouncing back on track and triggering a multi-car accident. The result was a thirty minute red flag for clean-up and the end to Edwards’ title hopes. “I think it was just racing,” Edwards explained. “I haven’t seen a real close up view, but the way I had it figured is first of all that was the race of my life up to that point. …
