MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Carl Edwards championship hopes took a big hit in Sunday’s Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway when he cut down a tire, causing damage to his machine, and relegating him to a 36th-place finish. Edwards started seventh but fell back in the field early before rebounding to run in the mid-teens by Lap 200 and in the top 10 by halfway.  But a cut tire on Lap 358 sent Edwards into the Turn 2 wall at Martinsville and to the garage for repairs to the right side of his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota.  “They (Goodyear) came down here and looked at the tire and said it was a belt failure so that’s really big of them to say, Hey, there’s nothing you …
