Cubs’ World Series task ‘not impossible’

CHICAGO — The Cubs spent virtually the entire season ahead of the pack, entering the year as the favorites, storming out of the gates with the best record in baseball and finishing with 103 wins. They have faced adversity during the postseason — a ninth inning away from a winner-take-all game in the National League Division Series against the Giants, and a series deficit in the NL Championship Series against the Dodgers — but they responded each time.

Now comes their biggest challenge.

In order to erase the franchise’s 108-year drought without a World Series championship, these Cubs must overcome a 3-1 series deficit after dropping Game 4 against the Indians, 7-2, on Saturday night.
