La Liga: Atletico survive scare

Yannick Carrasco and Kevin Gameiro struck twice as Atletico Madrid beat Malaga 4-2 in a La Liga clash that saw both sides finish with 10 men.
Malaga’s Jony was the first to threaten goal with a long-range attempt after five minutes but Jan Oblak was not troubled and Atletico were soon ahead.
The opener came as Antoine Griezmann slipped in Carrasco on the edge of the box and he took a touch before beating Carlos Kameni with a low, left-footed shot across goal.
Griezmann was heavily influential and headed over before teeing up another chance for Juanfran, whose effort was saved by Kameni.
Atletico’s pressure paid off as they forced the errors which led to their second after 24 minutes. Bakary Kone headed an overhit Juanfran cross back into the danger area in front of goal and Camacho compounded that mistake by heading it straight to Gameiro – who accepted the gift and lashed home.
