BOSTON — The Red Sox have lost another important talent evaluator, as Amiel Sawdaye is set to become assistant general manager for the D-backs, multiple sources told MLB.com.
Neither club has announced the hiring of Sawdaye, as MLB has strict rules on announcements during the World Series, which starts on Tuesday between the Cubs and Indians (8 p.m. ET on FOX).
The move comes eight days after Mike Hazen left the Red Sox to become general manager in Arizona. Sawdaye had been with the Red Sox since joining the club as an intern in 2002.
