The final elimination race of the second round in the Chase at Talladega Superspeedway produced good and bad for several drivers.
Joey Logano It wasn’t a “must-win” situation for Logano to stay alive in the Chase on Sunday but nevertheless, his victory did the trick. A second consecutive fall Talladega victory gives Logano a ticket into the Round of 8.
Brian Scott The best way for a driver and team not in the Chase to get noticed is to run and finish at the front of the field. Scott did that on Sunday, taking Richard Petty Motorsports to a second-place finish, the best performance of his Cup career.
Denny Hamlin Edged Kurt Busch for third place and that proved to be the difference in moving on in the Chase. Hamlin was even with Austin Dillon in the standings but won the tiebreaker based on finishes in the second round.
