Slovakia – SBL Round 3: Prievidza cruise past Nova Ves

Andre Jones Round 3 means everything may happen in SBL as the season just started. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.Prievidza smashed Nova Ves at home 94-57. The game was mostly controlled by Prievidza. Nova Ves managed to win fourth quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Prievidza forced 28 Nova Ves turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Nova Ves helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Andre Jones (191-90, college: Winthrop) who scored 17 points. The former international Richard Korner (197-90) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Serbian guard Aleksa Solevic (183-93, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who recorded 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nova Ves will play next round against Inter Bratislava trying to get back on the winning streak. Prievidza will try to continue on its current victory against Rieker KN in Komarno. Inter Bratislava (2-1) recorded a loss on the court of Iskra Svit. Visitors were defeated by Iskra Svit in overtime 114-106. It was a good game for American guard Eric Palm (188-87, college: McKendree) who led his team to a victory with 34 points (!!!) and 6 assists. Sasa Jankovic contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Radoslav Rancik (205-79, college: St.Cloud St., agency: BeoBasket) answered with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Inter Bratislava. Inter Bratislava’s coach Oliver Vidin rotated ten players in this game, but that didn’t help. Iskra Svit will play against Kosice (#6) at home in the next round. Inter Bratislava will play against Nova Ves and hopes to get back on the winning track. The best stats of 3rd round was 18 points and 9 assists by Radenko Pilcevic of Kosice.Kosice – Handlova 93-67There was no surprise when Handlova (0-3) was crushed on the road by Kosice (2-1) 93-67 on Saturday. Kosice looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Serbian guard Radenko Pilcevic (188-86, agency: AproK Sports Group) who scored 18 points and 9 assists. The former international guard Milan Ziak (190-88) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. Five Kosice players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Peter Sedmak (207-85, agency: 011 Sports) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Cameron Wright (195-92, college: Pittsburgh) added 8 points respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kosice will face Iskra Svit (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
