Austria – A Bundesliga Round 3: Redwell Gunners Oberwart defeats Dukes

DerekJackson This is still too early stage of the Regular Season in A Bundesliga and we should expect many changes in upcoming rounds. The most surprising game was a loss of Dukes (1-1) on the court of Redwell Gunners Oberwart on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Redwell Gunners Oberwart 87-60. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-60. Redwell Gunners Oberwart outrebounded Dukes 36-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Cedric Kuakumensah (206-93, college: Brown) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) contributed with 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. Center Jozo Rados (208-93) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds for Dukes. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Redwell Gunners Oberwart is looking forward to face UBSC Graz (#6) on the road in the next round. Dukes will play against Raiffeisen Wels and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Very important is a road loss of Kapfenberg Bulls (1-2) against Raiffeisen Wels (2-1) on Saturday night. Visiting Kapfenberg Bulls were defeated by Raiffeisen Wels in Wels 72-57. It was a great evening for guard Kevin Payton (196-86, college: Minnesota) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Davor Lamesic helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was naturalized Croatia power forward Milan Stegnjaic (204-81) with 10 points and 6 rebounds. Raiffeisen Wels will play against Dukes (#7) in Klosterneuburg in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kapfenberg Bulls will play at home against Furstenfeld Panthers to get more than just one victory in their record. An interesting game for Furstenfeld Panthers (1-1) which hosted in Furstenfeld Gmunden Swans (2-0). Furstenfeld Panthers had an easy win 82-65. It was an exceptional evening for Marko Car who led the winners and scored 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Toni Blazan came up with 14 points and 6 rebounds for Gmunden Swans in the defeat. Furstenfeld Panthers will meet Kapfenberg Bulls (#8) on the road in the next round. Gmunden Swans will play against Vienna (#9) and hope to secure a win. In the last game of round 3 Arkadia beat Vienna on the road 71-65. The most impressive performance of 3rd round was 22 points and 12 rebounds by Milovan Draskovic of Arkadia.Furstenfeld – Gmunden 82-65An interesting game for Furstenfeld Panthers (1-1) which hosted in Furstenfeld Gmunden Swans (2-0). Furstenfeld Panthers had an easy win 82-65. The game was mostly controlled by Furstenfeld Panthers. Gmunden Swans managed to win second period 22-13.
